Good Morning!

Been lurking for awhile, thought I'd join up.

My name is Jason, live in Wayne, MI. Married, two awesome boys (14 and 11). Work for Uncle Henry (Ford) in Livonia.

I fancy myself getting more into CAS through our club, Johnson Creek Regulators, so I came looking for reloading info for that and for hunting/plinking rounds from my .30-30 Model 94 Winchester.

Thanks for letting me hang by your fire.

Take care and shoot straight!

There is a trove of info on 30-30 here. I just took my first buck with a 1938 vintage winchester that I found d in a basement in rough shape and rebuilt/restored. The folks and posts here walked me through it.

Welcome from down south. One warning: you have just opened a giant bag of potato chips. Loading for your 30-30 is just the start. I joined to learn about casting for a 357 i think it was and now am making my own lube a duplexing loads for a rolling block.

Thank you all for the welcomes! I'm right honored.

I haven't reloaded anything for my Winnie. I'm going to try and convince my FIL to let me use his gear to get started. He doesn't cast (yet) but I'm sure it won't take too much convincing to get him started with that. ;)

Ride safe. We got a dusting of snow, e'ry one forgot how to drive this mornin it seems.

Jason,

Howdy from The Heartland! (Oklahoma) Marc Murphy here from Idabel, Oklahoma.

You couldn't have picked a finer site to join up with to learn about the art of casting your own projectiles. I'd been casting my own for nearly 20 years before I found this site. I learned more in the following 18 months after joining this site than I'd ever learned on my own in the previous 20 years.

The Model 94 and cast go hand in hand. For me, it was my first (actually the only rifle) round I cast for. One quick pointer about cast boolits in a rifle, get your barrel squeaky clean before starting with cast boolits. I just picked up a 1971 Model 94 at the Tulsa gun show. It's striped to the reciever in my shop at the moment and the barrel is soaking with Hoppes #9. I'll be following that up with even more intense cleaning to insure it's as clean as the day it left the factory.

You'll find a ton of information here and do not be afraid to ask questions. A lot of us here started casting on our own and it's a tough row to hoe without a mentor (or 10).

Again, WELCOME!

Murphy

Welcome from the farther corner of the lower 48. If you are ever out this way, give us a shout. If you need a place to camp - even better. Bring rain gear if your visit is during the Olympic Rain Festival (Sept. 25 through May 20).

Search for "soup can" that and red dot have been good for .30-30 plinking loads for me.

Welcome from Arizona. You'll find just about any answer here for casting/reloading. Some good deals in the swap section. You should think about becoming a contributor after a bit. As little as 10 bucks a year to help with this great venture.

Welcome from Maine. For me I'd say I visit ten times a day, sometimes for a short time and other time I get a bit lost for a while. Find you niche and enjoy the addiction.

Welcome JK. Glad you made the plunge to come on in here. I read and lurked a long while till I had to post and ask questions.
Great group here and lots of knowledge. Don't ever feel any question is to dumb to ask. Pays to be safe and get help when unsure.

Mike.
