You might want to post this in Swapping and Selling. There was one in the Cabela's in Dundee, Michigan last year but it is gone. Go on the Cabela's website and search the "Gun Library".

The one at Dixie has iron furniture. Is that a single-set trigger I see?

BOONER, Did the J. Browning Mountain Rifle ever have brass furniture?

The rifle was offered with brass furniture:

Here are some photos, some of which show brass.

Thanks, Tatume! That's got to be rarer than rare.

I just purchased a 50 caliber mountain rifle with brass furniture. In fact, it's still on the way to me. It has never been fired and comes in the box and whatever accessories that came with it. I hummed and hawed over buying it---for about 2 hours!! I have one in 54 caliber and this will compliment it nicely.

Several years ago I found TWO of them for sale on a FB trader page.

I turned them down but my wife asked me and I explained what I'd been looking at and how rare they were. She contacted the seller, agreed to buy one of them as a Christmas present, arranged a place and time to meet the seller, sold off some household clutter and drove a couple of hours to meet the guy with cash. HE STOOD HER UP.

Later that night he was posting pictures of the new pistol he'd bought that night - revealing that he stood her up in order to be able to go pick up a different gun.

She ended up getting me something else, something I wanted, something I'm really glad to have, far more useful (a green mountain LRH barrel for a T/C).....but I still get frustrated when I think about missing the Browning.
