I'm having a .22-6mm Remington made. Since the project was first started there has been no 6mm Remington brass available. I do have a pile of Berdan primed 7x57 brass and an annealing machine, so I should be able to run the brass into a 6mm Remington then into the .22-6mm Remington die then trim back to 57 mm and get the basic shape done then ream the necks if they're too thick. Anybody have any experience they'd like to share that might make this go a little easier?

Berdan priming is pain in the butt. Check the bigger auction sites. There's quite a lot of new 6mm brass available.

Have you thought about using 257 Roberts brass instead?

The 6mm Remington or 257 Roberts works best for me.

Most of my 6mm cases were originally 30-06 blanks, I first run them threw a 7x57 die without the expander plug installed., Then trim to a little long, anneal the case and then run them threw the 6mm die. yes I have to turn the necks to get the excess brass removed but I have had good results doing this.

You will need to use different dies to step the brass down and may have to ream the necks when you are done sizing, but reforming from any of the long proper head sized cases is a possibility. forming from roberts or 7x57 cases would be less steps but price is usually right on 06s.

I don't lose a single case in my reforming.

I believe I have about 150 cases formed from 6mm If you want me to look they are yours for the cost of shipping. I don't know how many time they have been fired. Came in a large reloading estate I purchased.

I formed mine from 6 mm.......if using 7 x 57 to start I would go from 7mm to 25 to 6 and then to 22. May need to neck ream.

338reddog, I'll take you up on that generous offer. PM with details sent. MarkP, I have access to a set of 257 Roberts dies, so I'll try that.

I make 6mm Ackley from norma 7x57. If I use a 243 win die to start necking down I get way fewer crushed necks. push the case in until the case shoulder touches the die shoulder. then run them threw a 6mm rem die. I have to turn the necks. then fireform. from 6mm to 22 I cant help
