View Full Version : Will an Accurate 32-175B work in a .32 Special?

I'm considering picking up an old Marlin (pre-microgroove) in 32 special. I designed the Accurate 32-175B for my 8mm Mauser rifles, in which it works wonderfully. I'm thinking it might work good in 32 special as well. It's the right weight, right nose length, takes the same gas check as a 32, and the grooves are plenty deep to survive being squeezed down a few thousandths more. The only thing is the bore ride diameter is going to be a little fat, but I don't think that'll be an issue as long as the throat isn't too tight.

Anyways, I'm looking for opinions from those experienced with cast in the 32 special.

Never used the mold you asked about in the 32 Special I did however have excellent results in 32 Specials with the following .

RCBS 32-170GC

Ranch Dog 323-170GC

Lyman 321297

All three of the Marlin 32 Specials I had were pre Micro . And all three did nicely with these bullets .

Since you already have that mold try it and if it works great and if not you should be able to pick up a used RCBS 32-170GC relatively easy !

The Ranch Dog bullet mentioned above shoots very well in my 64 Winchester.

My Win 94 dotes on lighter bullets with it's 1 in 16" twist. I have a gas check 160 gr flat nose that I worked up on Mountain Moulds. But I hear that slow twists work good on cast boolits the same weight as jword bullets that don't stabilize. I really haven't seen that much.
