I apologize for posting this here but didn't think any of the other boards were appropriate either.

VIHTAVUORI N120 POWDER

I cannot find any anywhere folks. I need something less than an 8# container. Does anyone know who has some in stock? Natches is the only place that had any but they only have 8# containers.

Thanks,

Dave

Dave, what is your application? Reason is because that is one of the best in that speed range. Consider it as a large granule 4227 speed. Most of the V-V powders have the same granule size for all practical measuring purposes. Granule size is too large for the pistol cases in this speed range. Need to go to N110 for the pistol cases, and that would be 2400 speed. So, if your case is filled up with 2400 and you want more of it, N110 won't work for example. ... felix

Felix,

I am developing loads for my .444T using Dutch's .44 Caliber 210 gr GC boolit. It drops from my mold at 200 gr lubed and gas checked with 50/50 WW/Lino.

I have reached over 2,900 fps with compressed loads (but not max) using this boolit/powder combination with no leading yet. I am only 2/3 way thru my initial ladder testing and have just about run out of powder.

I normally shoot 280 gr hardcast from my .444S and RH .44Mag and this particular boolit is one I am experimenting with at long range and that .444T rifle.

Tnx,

Dave

N120 seems to be a natural for that light boolit in that big case. Go for 8 pounds. If in any doubt, use 4227 at the WEIGHT you plan on using the N120. If that fits the speed requirements for your velocity and accuracy, you are good to go. N120 could be another notch in accuracy because of its larger qranules, and perhaps better ignition too boot. ... felix

That is pretty much what I gathered from the burn rate charts Felix. I am just so tight I hate to spend the $ on 8#. It does look as though I will have to pry the credit card out of my wallet though.

Tnx,

Dave

Have you tried Sportsman Warehouse or Outdoor Outfitters?

The last time I was in either(2-3 months go) both had some VIHTAVUORI Powders, but I don't know if any of it was N120

Thanks CJ but Sportsman's Warehouse here doesn't handle it and neither does Outdoor Outfitters.:(

I did try Sinclair and no go. I finally did find it IN STOCK at Natches and a friend is splitting an 8# keg with me.

Thanks all,

Dave
