Last night I cast my first ingots and have a question. Does anyone know what alloy is used for making old window counter balances? I thought it was going to be pure lead so I cast it separately from all my WW's. This morning I tested for hardness (with my finger nail) and I can't scratch this stuff. The WW's are soft enough to scratch but this stuff is hard. Getting something to test the hardness is the next step but just thinking someone might have some experience already with this stuff.
