I have a T/C .45 Hawken. Can I use #11 Magnum caps in it. The standard #11 caps that I have don't seem to have the snap required. Had a couple misfires and could not get the Maxi out except with a puller. I did look at my receipt and they are from 2009. Do caps age and loose power?
Also, where can I find the Moose Milk receipe?

You can use either 11 or 11 mag both will work fine. I have caps that are way older that yours and they are fine. I do keep them in a zip lock bag with a paper towel.
For cleaning forget the moose Milk and just use soapy water.

When I had misfires , more commonly a hang fire, it was usually from my failure to dry out the gun by snapping a couple caps on a nipple after wet cleaning. In other words trying to save money on caps.

After a misfire you can try pushing the ball back down. If you can get it down tight on the unburned powder light it again.
