Looking for a few GOOD gun shops in the Detroit area for a friend that is new to the gun scene.

Take him/her to the Flint area. Williams Gun Sight In Davidson right off the 69 Freeway. BIG, lots of stuff, new and used guns.

I'll second that recommendation for Williams Gun Sight. Double Action in Madison Heights is good (indoor ranges here). Wessel's in Warren has a good reputation with the old timers that I shoot with but I haven't been there in years. Guns Galore in Fenton usually has a good selection but the people that work there are not helpful in my experience. North of Saginaw in Auburn is a nice shop called Williams Gun Shop. If you are really heading north Jay's in Gaylord and Franks in Linwood are excellent.

All of the shops I mention still deal in wood stocked guns, hunting rifles, and reloading supplies. There are quite a few in the Detroit suburbs that specialize in plastic guns, but that's not my thing so I don't know anything about them.

Cabelas is in Dundee, pretty close to the D.

Not a lot in stock at Wessels. Guns Galore is a good place to visit.

The Williams store outside of Flint in Davison is expanding with building construction to double their size. They are open for business even with the ongoing work.Robert

Check out Motor City Gunworks up in Keego Harbor. The guys there know their stuff and can help you out with anything.

Cabelas in Dundee is also good, but not as close to Detroit

Jerry's Gunshop in Rochester is quite good too. Usually has some interesting older items.

Shooter's Service in Livonia and Randy's Hunting Center in Bad Ackse. I got the 300 win barrel for my TC @ mich-i-gun, the 209 from Randy's. There are also Dunham's around as well as GMs. Bass Pro Shops just north of Detroit.
