One Sad Day. They don't seem to make guys like him anymore. Guess we'll all have to try a little bit harder to live up to our heros.

You know we all have to have heroes, But I wonder if our children will or do have any one like him. I mean not that He was actor but someone who with out regard to His career or personal safety spoke out for just causes, 2nd amendment rights, eqaul rights for blacks, He marched with M.L.K. how many people were willing to have that stigma at the height of their career. He did not care and only wanted what was proper. God bless him and family. James

What a great man who stood by his principals and never wavered in his belief in this country. He will be sorely missed.

The world is a poorer place today. The loss of a person who marched for civil rights before the hollywood crowd thought it was trendy, spoke out for ALL of the bill of rights, and exhibited class to the end is a loss for humanity.

Godspeed Mr Heston. I'll have to find a copy of "Will Penney". Charlie and Sterling Hayden were 2 guys who were actors I could admire. They did it their way and everyone could pound sand.

I've got a copy of the 10 Commandants here with me in Iraq. I'll pop it into the DVD player tonight to see him act opposite Yul Bryner. How come we don't have actors like them anymore? Instead we get the type that think Saddam was innocent (Sean Penn) and that we need to become Communists (Martin Sheen)

The really sad part is Hollywood and the Media will get through this as "lightly" as they can.

I do hope they give Mr. Heston more respect than that, He earned it!

Got to meet him briefly once when he visited Missouri in support of our Prop. B right to carry initiative in the late 1990's. Even got to escort him (few paces behind) to his waiting car (along with 2 police officers and two other volunteers). Some idiot from a monthly liberal tabloid paper here called the Riverfront Times tried to bust through and get into his face. The uniforms went to hold him back and when he tried to push through them, well, they put this dude down on the ground so fast my face still hurts from the smile it brought. Then the weenie went and boo hoo'ed in the liberal rag the next month about abuses of police power blah, blah, blah. There were 12 total demonstrators at this hotel outside, and over 500 supporters inside. Wanna guess who the press followed? Best sign waived by supporter indoors: Guns & Mosses. He was an intellectual man, powerful speaking, eloquent. Wonderful to listen to. Though our cause lost a clear, strong voice (illness took that ability away a few years ago), his messages, for those who care to read and share it, are just as strong as ever. Freedom. Freedom for all Americans. No compromise, not based on money, color or birth order. Just Freedom, that should never be squandered. He was a stud……

Guess I’m rambling.. Anyway, my President's dead, so my flag flies half staff today.

I made sure to vote for Selleck and Milinick (sp? The director of "Rough Riders") when I sent in my NRA ballot.

I always remember Mr. Heston in his cameo appearance in the movie Tombstone. A tough old boss man type cowboy, doing what's right, living by a code, in a dangerous world.

Good bye sir

It was my honor to shake Mr. Hestons hand, talk with him briefly (maybe 2 min), and have him autograph his book at the NRA convention in K.C. He was old in body, but the handshake was firm, and the voice was that of Moses. The autographed book is one of my prized possesions, as is the memory of the two minutes that I spent with him. Rest in peace Mr. Heston!

Another great man enters into eternity. If only we could have had Mr. Heston as President of the United States.

+1 for Tom Selleck...another of the very rare celebrity 2nd Amendment supporters.

Earl Ofari Hutchinson, president of the Los Angeles Urban Policy Round Table says...

"We certainly disagree with his position as NRA head and also his firm, firm, unwavering support of the unlimited right to bear arms," Hutchinson said. But, he added, "Charlton Heston was a complex individual. He lived a long time, and certainly, there were many phases. The phases we prefer to remember were certainly his contributions to Dr. King and civil rights."

There were no "phases" with this great man sir. He stood up for what he believed and never wavered. God bless Charlton... :drinks:
