Reason I ask, I am looking for a 250ish gr. boolit for my 35 Remington. Have NOE's 200 gr two cavity in hand but want to try a heavier projectile. I have a Lyman 375499 and a Winchester 38-55 that I might try to reduce in diameter. I realize lube grooves would probably be smeared but I can get some from venders here, right? stop purple text

I can send you some 35 caliber lube grooves for 10.00 per thousand.

`well if you powder coat the now smooth castings ...you may want to size them even smaller :P

actually if you pre-lube the castings ( eg; fill the grooves with lube ) some of them may survive
my real concern is that swaging it down that far will soften the alloy's exterior and you may need to heat treat it to get it back up
f.w.i.w. i swaged a few .431's down to .401 , the first one was an accident the next 100 were not , these i tumble lubed , i wont state that they were the bee's knees but they were fair

35 Remington, in front of surplus 50 cal/20mm powder I don't expect velocities that would require extreme hardness. I'll probably be running a half ww half soft lead with a smidge of tin.

In this case they will need to get some, somewhere.

I beg to differ. To date, no loob grooves have ever been delivered, due to our policy of keeping them on permanent back order.

Seriously, having grease or PC in the grooves B4 swaging down can force the lead around them and may.......just may......let them survive somewhat. You may end up with a longer boolit. That lead has to go somewhere!

But I cast and shoot NLG 356 and 359 boolits all the time with PC and get great success. You do not need lube groves anymore with PC. So if you squeeze them shut......not big whoop. Just PC 'em.

I would paper patch some and resize them after patching them. It may help you get them down smaller between the sizers you have, as well. Just as stated above, once you get them down where you want them, PC them.

Thanks for clearing that up, I was beginning to wonder how he got his lube grooves while everybody else is still patiently waiting. Next thing you know somebody will say he has a few surplus post holes because he such a good deal on them from another member here. ;-)

I'll be shooting with a retired pilot Sunday, anybody need any prop wash or flight line?
