New guy with ??

I just got an RCBS ladle, ingot mould, and casting pot. These are new. Do they need to be "seasoned" or otherwise prepared before using for the first time?

Just about anything you try to do to them to "season" them is going to burn off the first time you use them. I would suggest getting another pot though; one to smelt with, one to cast out of.

+1 Once you've smelted a potful of WWs you'll be amazed at how much crud will be lining the sides of your pot. I use a cast iron lead pot on a propane burner to clean up the lead and pour ingots...then cast out of an electric pot with a ladle. Good luck.
