Looking for some suggested powders for getting to 1000/1100 fps with this combination. Would like a nice consistent accurate load. My bullets drop at 217 grains hardcast lead & using Lee liquid alox lube.

I have Unique & 2400 on my bench

Thinking Power Pistol or??

Here is a look with it crimped in the groove, going to use it in a Tarurus Tracker 41 magnum, hence the 1/8" shorter case.

Unique or 2400 should do it. However, I don't think LLA is your best choice for lube. I suggest LBT Blue Soft.

I have a Taurus Ti 41 4 inch and shoot the Lee 195. That boolit on 13.5 gr of 2400 does 975fps and leads with LLA. Now it is on the minimum size, at .4105 but it does not lead with 5050. Boolis have varied from relatively soft to WC WW. Soft was better. An NOE 412 230HP shoots about the same velocity on the same charge of 2400 and is good for about 2.5 inches at 25 yards rested on my knees. After about 30 of those I start pulling shots, thats all I want in that 23 oz gun. I cast 250 NOE 412244s (410459) today and plan to shoot them on 7gr of unique . I am told to expect about 1000fps from that load, and I won't push my Ti gun any harder with unique. All above is in 41 Special starline cases. Have you seen this :: http://www.sixguns.com/tests/tt41spec.htm

If you have any 231 , 5.7gr with the Lee makes a nice light plinker I can shoot all day. Not sure on accuracy, was shooting my culls. AND it shoot to near same POI with the 230 gr HP on 2400. Plan to try that 231 load with the new boolits toorrow!

Found this article about reloading the .41 spl. Shows a loading of 7.4 grains of Power Pistol for 1046 fps using a 215 grain commercial cast swc.

I have a 250 pc box of those, the lubrication groove is filled w/ a hard black lube that I assume can take the velocity better than my Lee Alox rattle on....lol.

Thanks for the interesting replys. Looking forward to experimenting w/ my stainless Tracker .41 magnum this fall.

The hard "crayon" type lubes used by commercial cast bullet companies are like store-bought tomatoes. They are designed to ship well, not work well (or taste good, in the case of tomatoes). Many people will warm them in an oven and re-lubricate with a good lube. Again, I recommend LBT Blue Soft, but there are lots of good lubes out there; many are inexpensive home-brew recipes.

bee4n shooting my 4'' Tracker with cut back cases--- i have trouble with the sights and my eyes--but 13 gr of 2400 does well with the 410459--13.5 AA#9 and also I have used the saeco 230 gr K -- GC boolits also do well because of the ports-- I do not load full loads ever for this 5 gun-- its nick name is hole puncher

I ran 6.5 grains of unique and a 220-230 grain cast in mine. Mine was built on a single six though so I didn't push things.

Understandable. Think my revolover is a little more stout.

LBT is an awesome lube. I changed over to RandyRats TacX. Seems to work just as well for my purposes (mostly magnum wheel guns)

Any idea of velocity with that combination?
