I just noticed McMaster Carr sells carnauba wax in flake form for $20.49 per pound. They say this is a "hard" wax. Do you think this would be any good to add to the Felix lube in small amounts? Since it's the same stuff as in Johnsons Paste Wax, I would think it would be excellent as a Felix additive. What say ye?

Carnuba seems to work well for the Lar's Carnuba Red lube that I'm so fond of. It's inexpensive as well.

Flakes is how carnuba comes. Sure it will work in any lube that you wish to harden, the more you add the harder the lube. Carnuba is a hard brittle wax and I have never been much of a fan of "hard" lubes, once I read this article it became crystal clear why.

Was just fixing to say McMaster Carr is my place of last resort on about anything due to what I consider inflated prices on most things

Standles and Plus +1. Look on ebay, lots of people selling this and thangs like lanolin MUCH cheaper than elsewhere. I think Felix has said that a couple of tablespoons is a good thang.

JPW has very little carnauba wax in it. The solid wax it contains is mostly microcrystalline paraffin. And as packed, it's something like 80% mineral spirits.

Horace - thanks kindly for the link. Some of the best prices on the Internet for fixed oils that I've seen. I use lanolin - jojoba and grapeseed is several of my lubes for BPCR

If you know of a cheap site for Japan Wax - post er' up - the stuff is darn expensive on the sites I've found
