Ha Ha My first thought (not being a horse person) was the vision of looking at the horses behind and stepping in poo all day.
Sorry, I couldn't help it.
I'm sure those so inclined would love to join you. Thirty or so years ago I would probably have enjoyed it to.
Time has a way of changing your appreciation of fun (physical abuse) and enjoyment. I don't shoot full house 44 mag loads anymore either.

I said years ago, that I would never mount another horse, but since I found out it changes you to god, I may just make one more ride.

Not sure where that came from, but am sure it wasn't from god.
I take it, you are not a horse guy either.

Mount has but one meaning when your talking horses, unless used by some sort of pervert.

Actually it has 2 meanings, but one is the horse itself.

I do live in Heaven (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_Hill_Country), so of course I am well acquainted with horses.

That is an opinion. LOL

My wife and I ride.We ride Arabians, because they will hold up.
I really hate those horses, but you can ride them forever.
Lately I have been riding an old Appaloosa. She is a fanatic old horse that makes me love riding again..

I just don't really like Arabians.

They are cranky.
I like quarter horses best.

We use to only ride walking horses , but they would all break down sooner or later.

The Ap is a really great horse, but I can't push her too hard.
I have an Arabian that will go anywhere, but I really don't enjoy riding her.

The Arabians are my wife's thing. She has a very high blooded Arabian.
Most of the time it is too much horse for her, but that is her passion so what can I say.
When I buy another horse it will most certainly be a quarter horse.
For a long haul endurance ride , the Arabians own the game..

Actually knew a cowhand or two that liked 1/4 arabian 3/4 quarter horse crosses for work horses. I know more that like 3/4 quarter and 1/4 belgium though.

My back said in no uncertain terms several years ago, that I wouldn't be riding horses anymore, so no more for me.
It is a moot point now, I wouldn't pay Alaska hay prices to feed any of them. lol

See and that is the thing. My back won't take a heavy pounding..
I love riding a walking horse , but we have had bad luck with lameness.

Spent a fair amount of time around horses. Had a little 3/4 Arab mare and a Quarter Horse mare. Both horses were fairly trail wise. Ginger, the Arab had incredibly healthy hooves, soft, required very little trimming, kept her barefoot most of the time. Very sure footed. Stormy, the Quarter Horse was great at planting those back hooves and negotiating a steep downgrade.

Probably never own a horse again and certainly would not want another Egyptian Arabian. Polish Arabian might be a different story. Still, I do love a big Quarter Horse; 16 hands +/-. Used to train Quarter Horses donated from the race tracks to the Nation Park Service.
