Might wind up with one tomorrow. What 44 carbine boolits do you think works best ? I have no mold's at all for a 44. :grin::grin:

Because I had the set before I got my Marlin, I shoot the Magma 240 grn. SWC. Shoots well as cast (fat bored Marlin). Accurate running slow or fast. Just make sure you slug your bore before you order/buy a new mold!

The Lee 200RNFP or the Lyman 429667 would also be good choices.

Slug yer barrel! My Puma has a .432" groove diameter so I got leading with my early attempts at shooting lead bullets. I tried a lot of different .44 bullets but for loading in Magnum brass the easiest and best for my Puma is a RNFP sized to .433"+. I had to use either Special brass for a SWC (429421) or seat them deep in Magnum brass and even then feeding wasn't 100% reliable. No problems at all with RD designs. After a bunch of trials and tribulations, I have 2 Ranch Dog molds now, and both the .44 cal. 240 gr. and 265 gr. RD bullets shoot great outta the Puma. Plus they are pretty good in my 4 other .44 Magnums...

Avoid the RCBS 44-225 SWC-GC. When crimped in the crimp groove, it is too long to feed correctly.

I shoot the NOE 240 Keith, .434 diameter in my Rossi and it does quite well for my purposes. My barrel is .432 as many 44 mag rifle barrels are. Look up the SAMMI specs, they call for a .429 diameter for pistol barrels, and .432 for rifle barrels. I've had 2 Handi Rifles in 44 Mag that I had fits with. The one I currently own straightened right our when I started feeding it the NOE boolit. I have a Lee six banger mould, the 200 RFN. It drops an out of round boolit, .431 on the small side, .437 on the large side. My Rossi has no appetite for this boolit but the Handi dotes on it. Go figure. With condom bullets, the Rossi dislikes anything that is .429 yet likes Hornady's .430 240 XTP. The Handi despises any condom bullet. I've seen lots of used Rossi'es on the racks over the years, and I wonder now after discovering the difference between pistol and rifle barrel groove diameters that the SAMMI specs allow for is that many people are simply disappointed with the lack luster grouping ability of these rifles with in spec, but over size barrel dimensions for the boolits/bullets commonly available to the non reloader/caster. My nest purchase of a mold is more than likely going to be an NOE 200 RFN of .434 diameter.

If you do still manage to get a Rossi R92 I will tell you I have not managed to find a bullet that will feed due to shape. COAL does fall into play but the sharpest edged SWC has yet to ever fail to feed.
