This post is for my Dad. He got a new Henry lever action rifle in 44-40, he looking for lead cast bullet in 200 grain range and his question is the Brinell Hardness (BHN) scale.

I'd suggest about 10, maybe even a little softer. 44-40 is pretty low pressure round.

Accurate 43-205C cast 50-50 wheelweights and plumber's lead will work fine, 8 grains of Unique is a farly standard smokeless load or 6.5 grains of Red Dot or Bullseye.
