People here are advertising in the local online classifieds that they will pay fifty cents per pound for wheelweights.

I think era of cheap, or even free, wheelweights is mostly over. Even if the price of scrap drops, people will remember these prices and hold on to wheelweights and other lead items thinking they are very valuable.

I think that's near retail from our scrap metal guy. I assume the scrap guys are paying 25 or 30c/lb.

you gotta get away from the I-15 corridor to find ww's
there is an outfit that runs down there they use the weights to make diving belts
and stuff like that.

when i was down there and was making the rounds from brigham city
to spanish fork.
i really had to hustle for about 5-6 months to get a few regular places
and this was 5-6 years ago.

Here in Redding, Kalifornia there is only one metals recycler (and he prolly has others under him). The advertised purchase price for lead in any form is $.15 and the advertised selling price is $.90

I paid $120.00 for two buckets of WW the other day.
I weighed after sorting zinc.
I ended up paying $0.39 / lb.

More than I would like to pay, but still way cheaper than buying projectiles.

I've picked up two buckets of WW for $30 each in the last few weeks and will wind up with
$.35/# plus burner fuel in the finished product.

I have 4 1/2 buckets of clip on WW's, 1/2 bucket of tape WW's, and almost a 1/2 bucket of brass valve stems that I have about $75 in the lot. Need to get to melting them down into ingots before it get hotter outside.
