I purchased a barreled Martini Cadet action and found it was chambered for 222 Rimmed. A little web searching indicates the brass is available at $1+ per case. But was wondering if I could use my 222 Remington dies to resize. Comparing the case dimensions they appear very similar except for the neck length, .256 for the Rimmed and .313 for the Remington and of course the absence of the rim on the Remington round.

Yes, use your 222 dies and a 357 mag shell holder. You will need to keep your loads a bit lower than the standard 222 to assist with easy extraction. The martini is strong enough to handle 222 preasures but the extractor is not super strong. I load a couple of grains lower and have no problems and accuracy is still excellent.

rikkit, Not sure if you can import from Australia - try this link - http://www.jansa.com.au/simplex3.php.
I think the 5.6x50r is fractionally longer but head size is the same - I'm not 100% sure though. You can make 222R cases from the 5.6x50r so they must be similar.

Rikkit,222rimmed is same loading as a 222rem,but start and work up.Brass can be made from 357 maximum,224RC was a round that was made using 357 maxi brass in the states.Owned and used 222rimmed for years.Try Jansa arms for brass, they may have a export licence.

Wicky, customs have a export ban on brass in and out of Australia.Buffalo arms sells Bertram brass.

Rikkit, chamber maybe worn.most of the 222rimmed suffered from very worn chambers.

Check out Buffalo Arms or Midway on the web for .222R brass. It will be Bertram brass.

Hi , just modify your original extractor to look like the one shown in the post about martini barrels ,and add a small screw in the action carrier to contact the bottom arm of the extractor at just about the end of it's travel and you can use your .222 rimless cases .. I have done several like this and currently am using a .223 and a 6mm TCU .. Flinter
