Ordered a hot plate today and will be fixing some sort of box to go over the heating coil. I see most guys use a saw blade to distribute the heat and naturally the mould on top of that. I'll use one of my PID units to control temperature but I'm thinking most of what I've seen doing a search are measuring air temperature in the closure. Obviously must work but was wondering if hooking the TC to the heat distributing plate would be the way to go?

Have a look at NOE's temperature probe,it requires you to drill a hole in your molds or you could just attach it to your cover housing I use it during my casting with my newer molds no more guessing

I fitted a TC to one of my Lyman DC moulds out of curiousity and that worked out OK but I don't think this new Lee double banger has enough metal to even fit a TC in. No wonder it's a problem getting them up to temperature! Might look it over a little closer though.
