About 27 minutes long, about Missouri lead mining.

Excellent film. So much lead in one place it made me drool. I did not find out the name of the company that owned the mine and the smelter until the credits at the end.
It was the St. Joseph lead company. In 1981 it became The Doe Run Company.

That is a classic I have posted several times in the past. I got it from someone else a couple years ago.

Share and share alike!

I never gave it much thought, but had the idea that crushing and then heating to the melting point of lead was all there was to it. It's a lot more complex than I figured.

Talk about some dross - wow. S.E. Kansas has those slag piles all over the place.

I'll bet there are very few quarries for gravel.

Try this limestone quarry for one.

intersting video you would think that the tailings could be used for road paving?
