I have been cleaning up my shop (long since due) and ran onto some boxes of gas checks. A really OLD box of Lyman's .30 caliber still had the price tag on it - $3.20!! How 'bout that, sports fans? Also had a box of RCBS gas checks and they were $10.00.

My, how things have changed...

Nah-h-h, jackley, I think that I'll keep them. Did find them VERY interesting, tho'.

I shoot mostly revolvers these days and don't really need gas checks in most of them. However, I will be working with a gas check with my .454 now that the weather is looking up. I have had the Taurus Raging Bull for several months and have yet to shoot it. This spring I intend to remedy that.

I will also be shooting 45/70's in my Marlin Levergun and Ruger #3 with gas checks. I'll probably even break out my Marlin 30-30 and will need checks for that.

Gas checks sure did get crazy expensive. How a GC can cost more than a primer really beats me.

I have an old 15 pound empty keg of Red Dot gunpowder with the price still on it, $32! I use it for a waste basket now.

I was loading for a new cal last week and one load was for H380. I knew I had some and pulled out an old can (late 70's), price on it was $3.95. It still looked good. Haven't tried it yet.

In November 2007, a sporting goods store near me went out of bussiness and was selling everything for half price. They had three boxes of Hornady 35 cal gas checks marked $9.70. I bought them for $4.85 each. Needless to say, I bought all three.
