Yesterday, I went up and visited with Swamp and learned how to cast. Had a learning curve like many things but I think I got the basics down pretty well and walked away with a few shootable boolits for my 45-70 and 44. I know this is useless without pics so I'll get to work on that. I just wanted to shout out to Swamp and BrassMan for their help getting started casting. Now I guess I'll need a few supplies and lead to get started on my own setup.

What a wonderful opportunity to learn to cast from those guys! You probably don't quite know it but, I'm sure they cut that "learning curve" down to a little bump!

Swamp was a great teacher and I'm hoping I was a half decent apprentice. It was mainly getting a rhythm and then we sat and talked while I cast. He's forgotten more about reloading and casting than I'll probably ever know.

That's what I've found in most of the shooting community. First airgun match I shot was after the BB Gun Nationals. I used a rifle from Alabama, a spotting scope and stand from somewhere else, an offhand rest (holds pellets and you rest the gun between shots) from Nebraska, and a few other odds and ends from around the country. Didn't do too bad either.
