This is not actually about casting but sort of related. I've been thinking about ordering some Hornady LSWCHP 38 caliber and Speer LSWCHP 38 caliber bullets and oven heat treating them. Would this work to harden then up a little? The Hornady's are advertised as extra-hard and cold swaged with a make up of 95% lead and 5% antimony. Don't know the alloy of the Speer's. Anyway, since they are not gas checked and I want to drive them a little faster for use in a 1894C I thought I'd ask.

If they're 5% antimony, they can be made quite hard.

All you can do is try. Every time some one says "That won't work", it seems somebody tries and it does work!
