Just a trivia question here...
Ebay shows a Lyman 386 177 mold and for the life of me I can not think of a firearm (USA) that might use this diameter. I looked and Lyman also cataloged a 386 178 - One is slightly heaver than the other. Handgun or light rifle by the look.
Any ideas?

That's the base diameter of the heeled bullets for the .41 colt cartridge.

The 178 mold is the hollow base version

You may well be right but the bullet does not look to be a heeled bullet. The chart does not depict a hollow pin on the 386 178. Again, you may be correct tho. Thanks.

NoZombies is totally correct. I have a couple of each (and also one of the 386177's with Herter's name on it).
