I'm still accumulating casting equipment but have yet found the time to actually melt some lead... I'm hoping someone here can offer up a place for me to cheat & buy 500-1000 60ish grain 25-20 bullets, to load in my custom 257 Special...

I suppose it wouldn't be fair if I didn't post a pic of the gun...

during the build... built from a Ruger Single 10...

as it is today, with blued barrel & cylinder & polished stainless & with a set of buffalo horn grips to tie it all together...

Check the N.O.E site.
I got an 80 grain 25 caliber mold to use in a wildcat rifle as well as the 250 Savage.

my buddy did most of the work... apparently they are different in the firing pin bushing than the older single sixes... not impossible to do do obviously... but he thought the older style easier to convert to center fire...

I did up another conversion more recently on a stainless blackhawk that I got a smoking deal on... seems kinda backwards but the new gun is also an 8 shot, however it's now chambered in 25 ACP... I got the blackhawk for about 1/2 what the single sixes are going for, or I would have done that conversion on a "six" as well... being a Contender guy, I had to have a Contender barrel made up for each caliber as well...

An 86 would be considered a more standard weight. Meister among others makes them.

I know a couple gents up on the Range that are always looking for jacketed SP & HPs for their 256 Marlins. Them little J- bullets are getting harder & harder to come by so they say.

I found 500 bullets from Western Bullet company using the N.O.E. 26063 mold... ( sorry guys I bought all they had ) they are a 65 grain non gas checked bullet... also tried loading ( well I did up a dummy cartridge last night ) with the 85 grain Meisters I have... I initially thought them too long, but I think I can get a sufficient charge in the case, but will have to work up from loads I developed for the 25 ACP revolver... all I can do is try... I'd think the 65 grain bullets I found from western would best suite the 257 Special cartridge???

OVERMAX... I have 3 boxes of the Speer Hotcore 75 grain JSP but I hate to get dependent ( develop a load I really like ) for any component that is difficult to get... I see some selling on the auction sites right now, for about 4 times the price they should be selling for

thanks for the added info. I also have a 256 Contender, both 10 inch and a 24 inch carbine barrel. I don't shoot either much anymore due to the cost of the 75 gr bullets I shot. Fixed that problem with an 80 gr NOE mold. Now just gotta cast some and work up a load!
I really like you SS, That little round would make up a nice Bearcat also ...... jus money :)
