Does anyone have a triball load for .454? My friend got a new Ruger Super Alaskan the other day and we were remarking about the old double ball load for .45 Colt which used as you might guess two lead balls, and we speculated there should be enough room in the .454 case for 3 lead balls. 18 boolits in a 6 shot revolver! :veryconfu

Since there won't be a whole lot of room left in the case for powder, we were speculating that 2400 or maybe even H110 might work since there would be a high load density which H110 really likes.

Dont use h110. Theres no room . It needs to be loaded almost full. Mid and max are just to close. Like less than 1 gr
been using 2400 as a reduced load. Kicks half as bad. Plinking

I have never gotten together with the 454, but have run 3 110 grain NOE 44 WC boolits in a 44 mag. I used WW-231 for propellant and had to size the first boolit in .428 to avoid bulging my cases. I have used round balls in multi loads in the past, but prefer the light multi-ball wadcutter loads. The 1st photo is a target of 10 shots, resulting in 26 visible shot holes. the second is a stack of wadcutters next to a loaded round. There is a old thread someplace with my write up on this experiment.

A very interesting idea... I've got a 6" SRH in 454, so I imagine if the answer is a yes I will be trying it soon :D

I'd not use the super slow powders, nor the super fast ones.
