Does anyone have experience with these boolits in a lever gun? I'm wondering if the OAL will let them feed properly in a Henry or a Marlin.

Thanks, claude

I have an older Marlin that will feed this boolit reliably. It does not feed the 429421 however. From memory I don't recall what other boolits it will feed.

The 429421 is so long it locks my marlin up so you have to remove the lever to clear it. I just assumed the 244 would be the same. I have the 244 mold as well and will give them a try in my marlin. I have tried other SWC bullets loaded in 44 special cases and it hasn't liked them either so I hope it likes these.

I have a Puma, but it doesn't like any SWC, either the 429421 or the 429244 in Magnum brass. I can make them feed if I load them in Special brass though, or seat them deep. Because of this I researched bullet designs and discovered Ranch Dog's 240 gr. and 265 gr RNFP GC bullets which are accurate in all my .44s...

I used the 429244 in several M94 Winchesters and Uberti M92 clones. My 429244s weight 270 gr fully dressed when cast of COWW + 2% tin and mixed 50/50 with lead. The AC'd and GC'd 429244 bullets proved very accurate (the most accurate of any cast bullet at magnum velocities) in all the rifles I used and fed w/o a problem.

Thank you gentlemen, this sounds encouraging. Is there any chance one of you would send me a half dozen of these full dressed so I can give them a try? I will gladly reimburse the postage incurred for the kindness.

I would gladly send some but I got talked out of my 429244 (actually traded it straight across for a Lyman 450) by a friend I sent some to try in his Ruger Super RedHawk. Apparently they are the cat's meow in his Ruger because after a couple years of incessant begging I relented. I tried to tell him to just get his own from Lyman but he said the one I had was magic. I mentioned for him to keep his eye out for a used 450 and he pulled his off his bench and said he'd trade for the mould right then.........since I was now using a 429640HP Devastator in my .44 Magnums I traded. He bought a new Lyman 4500 to replace the 450, go figure! I'll pick up another 429244 when one comes along though........it is a very fine bullet.

The Lyman 429244 feeds and shoots well from my Marlin "Cowboy Limited".

There is one for sale in the swappin&Sellin forum, this is why I got curious about the boolit, I'm leery of buying it because I don't want a boolit that might not feed in my Henry Big Boy which I have found will not feed everything a Marlin 1894 will feed. It's a 2 cavity. Feel free.
