I shoot a Rem 721 in '06. She loves to be fed:
WLRM primer
13.4 grains of SR7625, measured, not weighed
Lee C309-200-R, sized .311", ACWW+2% tin, Hornady GC
seat to crimp groove WITHOUT crimping.
Tennis balls at 100yd. 'nuff said.

I've had several '06's that were very fond of the following load:
Lyman 311291, linotype, sized 0.312", Alox/beeswax lube in all grooves, Lyman GC, seated to touch the rifling over 48 to 50 grains of IMR 4831 or MR3100, CCI LR standard primer. No crimp. Chronographs 2000 fps or a trifle over, depending on the load & rifle. 3/4 inch groups at 50 yards. Will hit a shotgun shell more often than not at 100 yards. Drops a deer like a box of rocks if you give it half decent placement.

Oh , I forgot the lube! Duh!
I use homemade lube on my lube groove boolits.
40 parts beeswax
20 parts paraffin
20 parts Lucas Oil stabilizer (or Morey's)
1 candle-color wax wafer or purple kindergarten crayon
comes out soft enough to flow through my Lyman 450 without heat.

I've been using the lyman 311041 with 13 grains of red dot in winchester cases with a remington 9.5 primer since the first time I read Harris' load. It's my prefered plinking and squirrel load in my winchester model 70, and gives me more time afield with my deer rifle. I use the 311299 quite a bit over 27 grains of IMR 4198.

I now have a 311466 and am starting to rethink my plinking load. So far it's shooting extremely well in the 06 and .308 with 16 grains of 2400.

Two consequtive groups, fired prone with an 03A3 to get it centered up at 100 yards. The white "square" is a paster that is a little under 1"; that was my aim point. You should be able to read the load data.

There are way too many loads in .30-06 but here are a couple that worked real well for me:

23 gr. SR 4759+311407 Group buy

17.5 gr. SR 4759+RCBS 130 gr. Spire Point

8.0 gr. Red Dot+RCBS 130gr. Spire Point

29 gr. RX-7+Saeco #316 150 gr. FN

I switched to Large Pistol primers and brought the group sizes down dramatically from the Large Rifle Magnums. A trick I learned here..

My loads for the .30-06 and a .358 Win. are the same-----1/4" to 1/2" groups at 50 yds.-----NO B.S. !!!!

shoots equally well or possibly even better with a 180 gr. LEE bullet (mold # unk.

Rem. 9 1/2 primer

Got the load from C.E. Harris's military rifle loads----but my Lyman Pistol Powder Measure will dispense 17 gr. instead of C.E.'s recommedned starting load of 16 Gr.
