Got all the signatures for my gun trust done yesterday. Now looking at all the different cans out there. For someone new at this, this can be worst than choosing my first gun 40 years ago.

I am thinking that I want to try to get 2 cans this year, one for a 5.56 and the other for a 22 pistol/rifle. The one that I thinking about is the Silencerco Sparrow 22, not sure on the 5.56. Next year, a 9 mm.

Not sure this is the correct sub-forum but:

The first can I really want is for the AR and was looking at the Gemtech or Liberty. Any recommendation on any 5.56 can.

When I start looking at the 9s, none of mine have thread barrels. It will make a difference on what after-market barrels are out there for the guns that I already have. Thinking the PPQ, then a 1911.

While at a LGS today, they showed me an Omega can that can be sized down for 45 to 9 in that order by changing a piston. Is a piston an adapter?

My budget for the 2 cans is around $1,500 which would include the 2 stamps.

Thanks for the help and advice.

Since I'm a cast bullet shooter as well as jacketed bullets shooter, I searched the internet in hopes of finding a suppressor that I could take apart and clean myself. Cast lead tends to leave more fouling than jacked bullets.

I ended up buying one called the Scorpion King from Lane suppressors. It's a 30 caliber user serviceable can that works like gangbusters on both my Tikka 223 and my 30 caliber milsurps.

I admit that all I've had to compare to was those same guns unsuppressed but, to me when any of the above long guns is wearing this suppressor, they are crazy quite in comparison.

This same outfit also makes cans in 5.56, 30 cal and all the way up to 45 I believe. I agree with you that the choices are many; and that's just from one manufacturer. When you factor in all the suppressor manufacturers, it's a dizzying array.

+1 on the Sparrow and its an excellent can.

The .223 you have LOTS of choices. Decide if you want to use a direct thread can or one with a QD mount. If you plan on doing mag dumps a full auto rated can is a better choice but they are usually heavier and higher priced than a can designed for low volume fire ( NOT full auto ).

My advise

- get direct thread cleanable can in 30 cal in Titanium for your 30 cal and 223 rifles.
should weigh in about 12-15 oz , should have changeable ends for 5/8x24 and 1/2x28.
My choice would be Saker 7.62

Sparrow is good for 22lr.

Next year get a 45 can like silencerco Octane

or AAC Tirant

which will work with 9mm, 40 and 45 even 300 whisper subsonic guns just fine, heck it even works with 22LR.

You will want threading ASAP for sizes that your host will be threaded for
9mm usually threaded 1/2x28, 40 is 9/16x24 and 45 .578x28 and 300 whisper 5/8x24 or 1/2x36 or whatever your host is thread.
