Anyone signing up for Windows 10. Is it worse than Windows 8.1?

I'm waiting this one out a little. I upgraded from 8 to 8.1 and have had quite a few issues. The biggest one is w/ pwntunes for my iPhone. I can no longer drag and drop files onto the phone. Took me a good hour to get my printer working properly every time. I'm never a beta tester when it comes to new operating systems. I will wait for a few updates before I try it out.

Pretty much had it with Microsoft 8.1, think I'm headed to Linux.

The learning curve going from Vista to 8.1 on my personal laptop was steep, but I'm used to it now and don't have any issues with it. The IT guy at work asked if I wanted 10 yesterday and I said no, but I think I'm going to have him download it on my work machine. If it sucks, he can sort it out and I can test it there before I decide if I want it at home.

I am running XP and am OK with it. best since 95b. My brother in law runs Linux and never has any trouble. my next will be Linux or Mac. This op sys written for laptop, tablet, smart phone is great on those devices. I use a desk top.
my 2 cents

I am happy with 8.1
I will probably upgrade to 10 a few months before the 'free' offer ends.

Not liking the icon that MS slapped on my toolbar when I did an upgrade on my Win 7 security patch recently. Its slowed my system down a lot immediately after that "upgrade"

I signed up for the automatic upgrade. After I did so, I thought better of it and sought a way to opt out of the auto upgrade. THERE IS NO WAY TO OPT OUT AFTER OPTING IN!!!

I will be on vacation and away from home when the upgrade happens later this month, so I will have to sort everything out when I get home.

P C magazine says to wait. I will go along with them. When 8 came out it wasn't long before they had to go to 8.1.
windows has messed up everything they come out with. so will let the bugs get worked out.
window10 will only work on a PC that is set up for 8 or 8.1, wont work on 7 or vista

I've tried the 10 beta in a virtual machine, it isn't bad, really a lot like 8.1 with different icons. I don't see any reason to move from 8.1 to it however, and I would never trust a new release of any OS.

This coming from a UNIX/Linux SA.

Jim you can indeed opt out. I looked at the icon today to learn about W10.
According to MS site;
*Right click on the Get Windows 10 app or Windows icon located in right end of the taskbar.
*Select "Check your upgrade status".
* Click the menu in the upper left corner, then select "View Confirmation"
* In the lower left, select " Cancel Reservation".

I have no idea what to think about Windows 10, no idea what it will be like so how could I make an intelligent remark.

Can't wait for Windows 10......I have to use Task Manager, two to three times daily. Windows 8 keeps locking up....can't be any worse!

I will admit that win 8 not actually shutting things down that I close does annoy me.

But who knows what is hiding in Win 10?

It would have been much more intelligent to have NOT posted any remarks at all, IMO.

I have not tried it but I dont care I am equal opportunity operating systems. Whichever works. I will say pricing a new Mac in comparison makes me angry. Sick of Macs but they work so scared to leave, used PC for work for the past year and its all good. Not as fast as mac, needs more updating than mac but gets the job done at a 60th the cost!

A 60th of the cost? You can buy a computer for $17?

My current computer is a 21.5" iMac that I paid somewhere around $1000 for way back in 2009. I filled up the HD and replaced it last year, but the computer itself is still working beautifully and I can't imagine I will even begin thinking about replacing it for a couple more years. One of the things you have to consider when calculating true cost of ownership is that Macs tend to have a longer useful service life than PCs. Some of the refurbished machines are a good bargain. My old Mac Mini was a refurb and so is my iPad.

I have Boot Camp installed on my Mac and am running Windows 7 on it. I doubt I will upgrade.

I'm using a 2013 MacBook Pro. Sure, there's $400 Windows laptops around. But the hardware is junk. If you look at the higher end, metal bodied machines, the comparison is much closer.

I hated everything about Windows 8 when I looked at the display models. For me, it was worth it to go Mac. I don't go changing components around on laptops really anyhow.
