obsession!

Maybe to many pain pills today but i was just thinking theres two calibers im about obsessed with. the 44 mag and the 4570. I probably shoot those two calibers more then all the rest combined. I have more molds then i even can keep track of for them and cant pass up anything thats for sale for them. Hell i have even bought brass that was fired 3 or 4 times. If left to a 4570 rifle and a 44 mag handgun i could hunt everthing Ive ever hunted or will ever hunt for the rest of my life. Funny thing is ive never had a full blown custom 44. Ive had customs in about every other caliber but the mag. I think im going to rectify that soon. Ive been talking to dustin linebaugh about a 5 shot 44 mag on a new vaquero. Maybe case hardened with a 4 5/8s barrel and smith ajustable sights. I guess when i get that i can sell every other handgun ive got as they will all be obsolete. I cant imagine a better packer then that.

The only downside I could see is the xr3 grip frame. With warm loads in big-frame 44s it whacks my fingers pretty good. But it won't stop me from having someone make a 41 mag on an old model 357 flat top using a long cylinder, for no reason other than it would make a nice all round plinker. Can't decided on 4 5/8" or 5 1/2" barrel though.

I knew of your passion for the 45-70 but for a handgun I thought you favored the 45 Long Colt for some reason.

A lightweight 45 rifle slug becomes a heavyweight revolver slug!

ive got more custom 45s then any caliber but my favorite caliber has allways been the 44 mag. I try to go along with the almost cult following the 45 has but its just never showed me anything more then a good 44 mag has. Most factory 44 mags are more accurate and i have to say that in equally well made guns the 44 has an edge in accuarcy. I think its because of the fact there is just more empty space in the 45 case. When i die a 44 will be buried with me. hard to argue down a 44 mag as a field hunting gun.
