Wowser. About as much fun as being attacked with a Ronco Turnip Twaddler...

Came up with a new lead thermometer holder.

375296, it wants to cast good boolits, but the top of one of the blocks seems to be slightly canted, the sprue plate swings easily except in the last 1/4 inch before it reaches the stop pin. Easy fix. Mostly good boolits, but you have to be mindful of the sprue plate...

Bands are .381, nose diameter at top band is .368, nose length to top band is .390, OAL is 1.024
GC Shank .360 at top, .110 long.

The 412263 were a little secretive. At first, the lack of vents had me didling with ladle to the hole, but I finally tried the bottom pour on my Pro-Melt and it started to throw almost all good boolits. It started to act like a well mannered mold.

Bands are .414, where nose meets first groove .409, nose length @ .460, OAL 1.093

412263, 375296, 412385

The old time 412385 was a heckuva challenge with no vents and a big cavity. I got it to respond to ladle to hole, but I quit before trying bottom pour (I don't have a gun chambered to shoot it yet).

Bottom 3 bands .411, top three bands .404, nose at top band .375, nose about .280, OAL 1.216

144178

About ten 412385 (can't shoot 'em), about 55 decent 375296, and about 40 412263.

This session was at about 725, the spout almost froze once. I need to run @ 750-ish.

Your finned version of the 375296 reminded me that I have a set of five or six 314120's sitting on the shelf, all connected together.

They were from a group buy mold that had issues, the alignment pins had actually displaced enough metal from the blocks to cause them to be held apart unless the halves went together just right. It took a long time to find the real cause of my out of round boolits.

Once I trimmed the offending aluminum from around the pins, it is one of my most accurate boolits in the .32 H&R Ruger SSM.

Your finned version of the 375296 reminded me Robert

It is akin to the 457122 door breacher where I forgot to put the HP pin back in before casting. When I have the blocks together, the boolits cast right as rain. Why is that?....

My experience with Pro Melts (I have several and have had others) is that the temperature on the dial is often 50-150 degrees different from what a thermometer says. For me the lead has always been cooler than what the dial says.
