Got off the phone with CH4D. Placed an order for their #101 swaging dies for a 10mm hollow point. Going to be experimenting with 9mm cases as jackets for some 10mm bullets. They should be here by next week. I'm so pumped up!!:Fire:

Does anyone use these that can give me tips on how to set them up? I'll be using them on a Rockchucker press.

Hya freak.

Sould have checked with me first, I have a Lachmiller 9 mm swaging die with screw on ejector tips.

I don't do 9 mm, so will let it go for $38.00 shipped up north.

Just got the CH4D dies today. Annealing some cases and trying to figure out how to set them up.

Word of caution.

The CH4D dies listed for the 10mm are NOT for the 10mm. Apparently the website is wrong, but they didn't change it for some reason. The item number is 101410HP and they are 41 caliber, not .400 caliber.

I'm trying to see if they have a .400 set in stock or if I have to custom order them.

What did those dies set you back. I've been toying with the idea of getting into swagging as in the future I may have more access to soft lead than hard. Sounds like your die would work for my 41 mag.

The C4HD website I am looking at shows two different part numbers - one for 41 cal, and one for 40 cal. Seems like a simple mistake.

Let us know what they do for you on this one, always good to know about customer service.

$136.11 USD is a freaking bargain compared to the "other guys". Bulletswager gets 225 for the same 2-die set...

Yes, they finally updated their site today. Mandy just called me and told me. Before there was no 40S&W/10mm dies. Just 41cal for the HP or SP design. The description for the 41cal was "40S&W/10mm". That's where I was fooled.

Before today, you had to special order a set for 10mm/40cal and it was a custom job at $215 or whatever. They have recently tried to stock them but didn't have them on their site. If you asked for them, they'd send them if they had them in stock, and it was the normal $129.11 plus shipping.

To fix the problem they offered to trade even up for the 40cal dies. I said I could probably use the 41cal dies I have as it fits in with my business niche. I just ordered the 10mm/40 dies as they had them in stock and that's what I wanted. They felt I should be compensated for the mistake on their part so they gave me a discount (that I can't disclose) and also shipped them for free.

Bottom line: I'm going to order a set of these dies for the .45 Auto too when I get the money.

You have to call in the orders, but you get to talk to Mandy. Cool chick, sounds cute. Seems to be new there, but she won't leave you hanging. If she can't answer your question, she'll find out the answer and get back to you.

So, how are the .400 dies working out?

Haven't had time to work with them. I'm neck deep in bullet orders with a LE training ammo contract signed and a half dozen more departments lurking around. Barely have time to breathe let a lone swage. When I get a break from the action, I'll try them out. Going to order jackets and wire first.

FreakShow:

I will send you some jackets to play with - are you swaging .355~.357 stuff as well?

Cool, thanks. I have that 9mm Lachmiller die from Swagerman I bought. I need to get a bullet forming punch that goes in the ram. Pretty sure a CH4D #105 punch will work. Just playing around with that.

I won a Herter's swaging die but unknown caliber off Ebay. Should be here later this week. Paid $26.39 shipped. According to the seller, it says "SE1A" on the box, nothing on the die.

I don't know if I'll get into .357 stuff. Would be neat to make some jacketed bullets in a 200gr or so for the .357 Mag.

FreakShow:

Jackets went out today, to the Calumet PO box. The 40 S&W cases should make a good heavy 10mm or 41 mag bullet. They should be soft enough to bump up the .010 for 41 mag.

The 9mm cases should make a good 150 + grain .357 bullet, the 380's a decent 125 grain bullet.

Have fun.

I'm just wondering if FreakShow has tried out the dies yet.
