Sometimes a poor memory pays off (or it supplies good surprises). I was in a local box store and they had one pound of IMR3031 on the shelf so I bought it, thinking I was getting low. I got home and was digging around in my reloading stuff cabinet (where I keep my "extra" supplies). I found one other full pound of 3031 and then (drumroll...) I found two full pounds of Unique and two pounds of Universal I forgot were in there, stuffed behind my 4 lbs. of IMR4064. Quickly got out my reloading manuals and looked for 3031 loads for my .308, 30-30, and .223...

That is why I keep a current list of powders on hand taped on the inside of the door in my powder vault. I make corrections to it when I buy powder or use the last of a can of a certain powder. I then have a note area where I write the powders I need to buy. I do the same thing where I store my primers.Robert

Some of us couldn't get that organized if you paid us. I made a list once, but I can't remember where I put it. Pack Rats can't be bothered with all that organization.
Just the other day I discovered a 4 lb container of Unique in the top of a closet, squirreled away for a rainy day and forgotten......it was a wonderful and unexpected surprise....free powder !
Believe me there are times when ignorance is bliss, what I don't know can't keep me up at nights worrying about it.

3031 is my favorite powder for my 30-30! Good grab since you shoot one.

I love finding stuff I forgot I had. Cleaned out my parent's house about 12 years ago and am still discovering stuff in boxes that I never knew were in those boxes. Wish I would come across a couple of boxes of Colt and Winchester parts or the missing checkering tools. Found the inletting and carving tools about 5 years ago.

Mdi, FWIW, a buddy got some EXTREMELY tight groups in his M1A match grade with 3031 and I believe it was 168 gr. MK's with CCI primers, IIRC. Amazing groups under 1/2" for 5 shots! Yeah, I'll always give that powder a try in .308!

I had to make a running inventory of my primers 'cause I would have to empty the storage box of the bricks and count whut wuz whut about once a month...

I fumble fingered an allen wrench off my bench yesterday. I was on the old hands and knees with a flashlight looking for the wrench when I came across a top punch for my .44 255 gr. FN boolets that I miss-laid on the sizer box. Guess I need to clean out from under my bench more often!Robert
