I had $50 "Cabela Bucks" to spend recently and went to the reloading section. They didn't have any powders I needed. They had no reloading gear I needed. I had plenty of bullets and they had minimal to no casting stuff. I rounded the corner and spotted a sale sign over at the RCBS dies. I looked around and spotted a 300 BLK SB die set and figured "why not".

I came home, busted out the dremel, cut it off at the shoulder, sized it and trimmed to spec. Super easy!

Now to get a 300 BLK. Once I get up some funds after paying off some unexpected bills, I'm hoping a certain member here still has his 300 BLK barrel available.....:bigsmyl2:

I was the same way when I first did the 300BO. Now after.......say.......500K it's loosing its appeal.

Yeah. I don't know how many I'm gonna make. It still may be easier (time wise) to buy 500-1k and get a head start

The 300BO was my first conversion also. I had 100 done when I bought my upper, did another 300 after and just today milled out the 80% lower for the build. Now just need to make sure all the parts fit and operate right before the color coat then off to the races. Somewhere in the middle purchased the Lee 309-155 because so many guys reported good results. Oh, still need to load some up.

Just getting started too. First was just necking down 30-06 to 25-06 then like you guys I chopped the necks off 223 and ran them through the blackout die, really easy, worked well. Last week I picked up a Redding form and trim die and full length die for the 8X57. I made 45 8s out of 30-06 and 270s and every one turned out great, not even a shoulder dent. Being retired I have the time to mess with such things and do it for fun. I wouldn't want to do it in the volume Matt does that's for sure. GP

I bought a fairly reasonably priced jig on evilbay and the Harbor Freight 2" chop saw for it to clamp into.

Any damaged .223 case instantly gets turned into a .300BO. Far as I know you can still find the Blackout entire rifle at Grabagun.com for around 220$ Think I paid 221$ for mine. It is not a marvel of blued steel, and fitted walnut.

What it is is handy, very short, lightweight, even with a scope on it.
So far I have not wrung any fantastic feats of accuracy with mine. But to be honest it is still breaking in.
I have shot a range of cast from the Lee .311 93 grain, the Lee .314 100 grain truncated cone, the Lee .312 155 gr w gc. And the Lee .312 185gr w gc.

All shot reasonably well, 2-3 inch groups at 50 yards. But I have to admit I am hoping I can find the right combination that will give me more. As for cheap shooting, those little .314 100 grain sized down to .309 over 5 grains of Red Dot is cheaper than buying .22lr ammo. I suspect they'd kill a critter quicker.
