Just make sure it is really bees wax. I think I read somewhere on here a while back that it was not really bees wax anymore.

I got a bunch of "Wax" rings that had been damaged
They turned out to be a man made wax

I have made 50 / 50 lube out of them
It works OK for 1000FPS or less pistol

But I have not been able to get the same proformance as I do out of my 50/50 Bee's Wax based lube

The bowl rings I've examined lately have been made of heavy vaseline.

Virtually anything carbon based works for smelting. I'm partial to free anything myself...

If you want some good, clean, gold beeswax, check out RandyRat on this forum. Really nice, gold, smells good too!

I think I am going to need a couple more boxes. Putting up prizes for the ML shoot is going to eat away at my stash.

Most of these rings are made of "slack wax," the stuff that comes out of lubricating oil when they chill it till the wax precipitates and filter or centrifuge it out. It's still got a lot of oil in it, so it's soft. Mostly paraffin. Actually, it might be useful to know who sells bulk slack wax in reasonable quantities without having to buy toilet rings. It's useful for blending into lubes, but I find it too soft and low melting to use by itself, I got lots of leading that way.
