Non functional gun, breech has been demilled. Oh well, like seeing a good looking woman, then seeing tattoos. Ruined....

Depending upon the Demill might be a candidate for conversion to blackpowder muzzle loading cannon

From what I was reading elsewhere, you may be able to source a new breech for it if you know where to look. Not sure if that's true, because I don't know where to look, but if you have the money (and space) for a tank destroyer, well...

Well if breach is available and they haven't hurt the integrity of the barrel then a SOT would just file a form 2 to rewat it as a Destructive Device and $200 form 4 to take it back into possession of individual, LLC or Trust.

Problem is most of the Dewat's were torch cut into the barrel's and new M-18 barrel's are probably not easily found. - if you can get a plug into a damaged barrel so that the end is clear you could probably find a way to get an igniter and use it for black powder cannon.

Sounds like fun, reckon the brass is hard to find?

I would imagine it's not easy as it's been out of inventory since we switched to 90mm post WW2. Well, actually late WW2 when M26 Pershing tank was fielded - all 20 units.

I think you'll either need to be able to wield Thor's Hammer or need a press to help you.

Good for following an injured hog (or bear or T-Rex) into the brush.

Not much different than reloading normal ammo, but the primer is a lot more complex.

Answer: anywhere you want to.

VERY cool, and amazing to see them in private hands. But folks keep calling these
things tanks.

Just remember, these are not tanks, but tank destroyers. VERY thin armor (1") so they
could be fast and have a big gun. US WW2 doctrine did not have tanks engaging tanks,
but tanks engaging pillboxes, machine gun nests and providing mobile cover and
gunfire support for infantry. Tank destroyers engaged tanks. Gradually, this
changed and we were slow to switch to tanks that can engage tanks, and resist
tank rounds. Germans were faster to adjust, but produced few and very unreliable
heavy tanks.

I'd bet there's still some ammo in storage, you know if I were betting short odds on a sure thing like say ,I bet you a dollar the earth will rotate far enough tonight for you to make it into the sun light again tomorrow as long as you're above ground .

105s and 120s are the most common anti-tank rounds these days . The sabot 120 "lawn dart" looks pretty cool. They say it will punch a couple of ft of armor and is autopyrophoric in spite of being a solid projectile.

That is actually not a bad price, considering the initial price was listed as $55K in 1944 according to m18hellcat.com.

A couple of sites list inflation in that time of 1200%, yielding a purchase price of ~$740K in todays funny money, so $250K is a steal.

I don't need to own one, but I would like to drive around in one and fire the guns.

We've probably got a serviceable gun tube lying around here somewhere at Yuma Proving Ground.

What mold would you recommend for a cast black powder boolit and is a 20 pound pot big enough? Can you shoot a gas check boolit without the gas check in this application??

Pretty sure a mould could be fabricated but I doubt our drip-o-matics will fill them fast enough. I'm thinking a big smelting pot and a 4# ladle. If you're going to use BP I wouldn't worry about a gas check, pretty sure I'd spec the mould as plainbased, lol.
I need to invest some money in the coming months and one can't have too many hog guns, lol.

If you can afford the price you can also afford to switch out the treads to ones with rubber.
