I'm still lookin' to test this bullet before I buy the mold. No one has responded to this specific bullet request yet.

If you have twenty bullets from a SAECO #018 mold (.458-459"....405gr....Flat Nose...[flat base]), I would appreciate it if you would email me with a price, including shipping to zipcode 39475. (Please tell me how you'd like the funds paid.) The bullets don't have to be lubed; I can do that myself. Your help is much appreciated!

I'll be using them with smokeless powder out of a Sharps.

Thank you very much,

I don't have a Saeco, but, if you want some from a 457193, I'll send you some.

I have an unused Saeco 405 ".458" mold at home - could do it but not any time
real soon. I'm on a business trip and won't be home until the 29th, and will
be catching up then.

How bad and more importantly SOON do you need them?

FYI, I have a "matching" 300 or 350 gr mold that throws about .457 diam
with my alloy, which is WW plus some scrap "lead alloy" (unk) added.
The 405 may cast small, too, but haven't used it yet.

Pumpguy,

Thank you very much for your offer. I'd like to stay with the SAECO. It would be a pure apples-apples test. I've compared the Lyman 457193 with the SAECO I'm considering, and the SAECO has one more lube groove, so I think I'd better stick with that bullet sample. Thanks anyway. I appreciate your offer.

MtGun44,

Thanks very much to you, too, for your offer. I'm not in any hurry at all. At your convenience is a fine "timetable" with me. I'd just appreciate the help. I'm holding out on my decision to buy until I find (and shoot) all the different bullets I've chosen, however long that may take. If that fits, please let me know. In either case, thank you.

Send me a PM in early April and remind me what the topic was and I'll
try to get you some to test, and I'll get to find out what size that mold
casts, too.

Okay, I have one. The #018 Saeco is a darn fine bullet for the .45/70. I bought this one for my Ruger #1 as I couldn't find a 45-405-FN RCBS. Mine weighs 412 grains sized and lubed and I've HP'd it but still have a plug for making solids.

This one shoots well in my M1895 Marlin and also in my friend's Browning BPCR. IN fact, he keeps it most of the time.

PM me and I'll try and cast you up some here in a day or so if I have it. If I don't have it, it will be a week or so until I can get it back,/beagle

Thank you all very much, MtGun44, Beagle, and Hyoder for your offers to help me. I received an email notification of Hyoder's offer (by PM) and responded to it first before I saw the other offers. I am grateful for all your offers of aid.

Thanks again.

Brian

I’m sort of riding on Moredes’s tail feathers here. I’m looking for sample boolits for a 45-70 myself. I just bought a Handi 45-70 and I’m looking for a cast boolit that will perform well in the little rifle. I sent a PM to MtGun44 for some of his 405 Gr Boolits. I’d like to find a boolit somewhere between 300 Gr and the 405 Gr to try as well.
