Looking to purchase a trailer to pull behind my ATV. It will mainly be used to haul firewood and building supplies on our property. Most of what I seen online do not have "real" axles and bearings. Looking for something built to last. Not qualified to make one myself.

Any suggestions?

I have an old homemade 'motorcycle' trailer that was built pretty stout.
It has even made the twoway trip between Montana and Mississippi.
Because I no longer keep lights on it, it is just used for hauling stuff around the place, and that is mostly done with the ATV.

From that experience with ATV utility hauling, I would recommend the kits sold by Northern Tool:

Or, (possibly) the one sold by Harbor Freight:
http://www.harborfreight.com/1195-lb-capacity-48-inch-x-96-inch-heavy-duty-foldable-utility-trailer-with-12-inch-wheels-90154.html

I think they would hold up for the service you describe.

I have a 40x48" bed that I got from Harbor Freight. It pulls nice behind my Grizzly 660, but I would not want to take it on rugged trails over rocks or deep ruts. For hauling a few hundred pounds of stuff it works well and the price is right. I made a box that sits on top of it.

I have the Northern 40 X 48. I put up to 1,000 lbs in it. I use it on my 30 acre farm. I pull it with a Honda Rancher 350 about 1,200 miles a year. It is 4 years old and the two bolts that hold the tongue to the frame pulled out. I drive it fast 15 - 20 mph on rough ground. It took 15 minutes to repair.

The Guys that we hunt with in Canada use a neat little trailer that looks like two benches facing each other with a tailgate. It has 2 axles and runs on atv style tires. Its narrow and will track behind a 4-wheeler.

Try Tractor supply.

Check your local Craigslist, there always seems to be odd stuff showing up there.

How rugged a trail are you looking to haul this trailer on?

I've got one of these. http://www.ohiosteel.com/catalogPages/product?productId=66 I like the fact if doesn't have a solid axle. I've taken it places hauling wood that a solid axle would have been hung up for sure. I put wooden racks on mine and loaded it 24-30" over the rim and had no problem. We just got done hauling a "bunch" of rocks with it too.
