Do any of you use the left over solder droppings from radiator shops ? if so, how much do you pay for a 5 gal bucket ? and what kind of reclaim ratio can I expect ? is it as easy to clean and ingot as WWs ? Thanks

More desirable than W-W as it is very high in tin content, use it to mix with your W-W to make it better casting. Have no idea as to what to pay for a five gal bucket but get it as cheap as possible.

Yes. Don't know. VERY high tin content, maybe 50% or better. Be prepared for a lot of work rendering it down.

Why would it be more of a pain than WW. I got some once and it melted fine.

I didn't think it a pain to smelt. No more then WW's.

It all depends on how clean it is. I got some that the guy said was floor sweeps, and he wasn't kidding, it was mostly dirt with a good quantity of mineral deposits. The fumes were amazing. I got that for free. I've paid a dollar a pound for clean bits and pieces and felt that I did OK. I don't need much to sweeten my WW's, so If I have to pay a bit for it, it's OK.

Well, I picked up a 5 gal bucket today, and have got thru about half and have 25lbs of ingots. This stuff was a mess and quite a bit of work to clean, much worse than range scrap or any of the WWs I've done so far, but still much better than the altenative which seems to be about $10+ /lb.

I just finished melting about half a 5 gal bucket full. Got 34lbs of ingots. Much less sacap than WW.

Filled the back of my work van couple of months ago at the radiator shop. Came away with 89- 2lb ingots after smelting.
