The gentleman wanted to give it for free and thought it weighed 60 lbs or so. I tried to give him a twenty but he wouldn't take it so I said well at least take enough to buy a lunch. His comment was finally someone who will use it instead of running to the junkyard. So I think I feel pretty good that I did try.
IIRC I do think the old phone company lead is good lead & I'll test when I get a chance.

is that in bar form?
if so it may be marked southern bell and could be 50-50 solder for soldering the joints together between the pipes and the repair boxes.

you might want to investigate it a little further.

It is marked "southern" but not Bell and was told it was for soldering the pieces together on telephone pole wiring devices for waterproofing phone lines.

yeah,,, you still might want to check that out.
the melt point would be a lot lower than 630-f for sure. [pure lead]
and airc would be more like 500-f or so.

I told you wrong ! The phone stuff i have will be melting down from old raw closure lead. ( I didn't see the Southern bar till now)
The lead i have is softer and i add it to my WW 50/50.If the lead you have is for repair on the lines it should have a good amount of tin .
I don't have anything to check the BHN. I know one maybe two retired bell guys on the board here , and bet they can answer more about the lead.
