I know it's a long way off, but it takes me forever to get things done.
What I want to make is a candy bowl that would bite when you pick up a candy.
I'm thinking a round bowl, with soft teeth like jaws that will pop out of the sides. Small motor or solenoid????
Would be triggered by a photo cell with a lazer light.
It would bite and retract in a second. Some kind of timer relay???
Needs to be battery powered.
I have one that I bought that has a hand that would come down when you got the candy.
Any ideas?????

A mouse trap with a weak spring could be effective.it could be bound with something soft.

A bit different but could U make a vibrating device like a rattler about to strike and have a fake snake in the bowl?

How about some version of the useless box/useless machine. Micro switch to have it go back in, monster hand/head for what comes out, some kind of motion sensor to have it activate. Lots of videos and how to on the useless box, just need to change how it is operated.

If it was me I'd take a plastic ball and cut it in half - glue on some foam "teeth"
and motorize that with a reversable dc motor.
something that works along the lines of

That's something like what I've got in mind.
The lid would be a two part clamp made of rubber or soft foam, shaped like shark teeth.
It would close for a second, or so, and open again.
Great fun.

No need for a motor, make it so when the weight is removed(the candy) it closes.

Lots of strange stuff, but not really what I'm looking for.
Found some info about making a dark switch on youtube.
It's a start anyway.
