Got some older Lyman equipment that could use a face lift....of course I called the Lyman Company and no one could tell me the color and yes there was none available for purchase......

I also searched the archives without success......

Oh wise ones....do you know what color of orange Lyman used back in the olden days?

Thanks in advance.....Paul [smilie=b:

http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?166565-Lyman-45-buying-guide-and-cleanup-instructions I think JonB used Chevy engine paint on his restoration of a 45.

I use Chevy engine orange myself. It's a little brighter, but I call it good to go.

Walmart paint section has a spectrum of color cards that have just about every shade of color available to at least look at and/or compare to any sample that you might bring with you for comparison. Any paint store would probably have something similar or try Ace Hardware. Ordinary Latex paint does a good job; I used it on a piece of Lyman equipment once and lucked out as it looked "orangey" enough for me. LLS

I used Krylon Orange on this 45. I think it is a really close match.

Uh, my Lyman 450 is painted gray. Looks like gray primer.

Krylon sells #1820 Allis Chalmers Orange paint. Finding it might be an entirely different matter, though.

Rural King--if you have one---sells lots of tractor paints, both can and spray.Might be an idea for the Allis Chalmers.
