View Full Version : Nifty Gun Protection

Today at the range a man demonstrated a nifty "Gun Rug" that he hads just started manufacturing. The cloth and foam cover goes over from the buttstock end and covers the buttstock, sight ladder, action and front forearm and ties off. I have three $1,500 Rifles and they have beautiful wood fore and aft. The sights cost $300 and every time I take it in or out of my gunsafe I cringe that something will get scatched or nocked off. These covers are breathable and foam lined and offer ultimate gun protection. Price is determined by size , but are only a few dollars. Contact info@reviwear.com or ph. 336-218-0896 for information or distribution information.

I would hope that these covers are ultra thin.

Real estate is very valuable in my gun safes. That's why no covers or cases are used. Like most of us, I need every square inch of space the safe can offer.

From your post, it sounds like you must work at reviwear.com...

Hopefully, it's not one of those foams that basically disintegrate after being exposed to petrochemicals for awhile. I've encountered a few too many of those lately... Even things that you would think should be resistant to petrochemicals like foam air filters on motorcycle carbs... :(

Did you buy one? Are you going to post a picture?

I just use a silicone gun sock. Works great. And no, they have never damaged any of the finishes on the wood stocks.

I think that this is the item that he's hawking:

I prefer gun silicone socks, my more highly prized ones reside in Borestores. And no, I have no connection with this company. Foam has no place in gun storage IMHO, transport use only.

My guns get used, during use they pick up dings. Part of walking the woods with them. So a ding in the safe? No big deal. I don't own safe queens that never see daylight!

NavyVet is correct.

I have no dog in the fight and do not get anything from sales. I have ordered three and production has not even been started. The manufacturer has made Cowboy gear for years and if you do not feel a need for one, or use your gun for a boat paddle, do not buy one.

Seems fair enough :) Looks like it might be handy for some, but I kinda like my whole gun covered when packed in like sardines.
