50 years ago today (May 9), I was born near the tornado devastation in Fridley MN, that happened 3 days prior(may 6).

Vintage home footage, I get a kick out of the comments near the end (2:55 to 3:05)

Happy Birthday JonB...50 was a great one for me because it meant that I could tell my employer to take this job and shove it......didn't stayed 1-1/2 years longer and then did it....the long and short of this 50 is great....60 was great and 63 is still going great guns....wish you a long life with great health! HAPPY BIRTHDAY Jon.

Yes I will never forget my 50th party (the last one I had) as my daughter almost burned the house down.

My daughter put 50 candles (her nickname was Joker so the candles could not be blown out) on the cake and we had flames and smoke heading for the ceiling.

A wet towel settled that in a hurry and ever after that I said no more parties.

About 3 weeks till my 79th.

Me and Girty will be here to celebrate.

Happy Birthday! 50 was a couple+ years ago for me. I remember watching that on the news on my parents first color TV! It was about a week old when that happened.

Hi...

Happy Birthday!!!

My 50th was a decade ago. Lot of rocky road since then...some good days ,too. That's what life is...remember the good, don't dwell on the bad.
Keep moving forward!

I got you by eight years but not to many miles. I will be 58 in July and grew up a few miles north of Wayzata. I kind of remember that storm. My mom and sister were out going somewhere when it hit. The cops were closing roads and were making people get out of there cars and getting them in to any place safe thy could to ride out the storm.

I remember going out in the back yard with a box over my head picking up hail stones when my dad called me in and we went in to the basement. After words we went out to check thing out. We got by with out to much damage but it is kind of funny how it can rip the roof off one house and not the one next door. I saw a down spout from some ones house that went through a big Elm tree, thy cut it off the ends of the spout and left it there sticking out both sides of the tree just so you could look at it. My parents had a book that was printed about that storm that showed a lot of the same stuff the is in the video.

So have a happy B.Day and a safe tornado season.:drinks:
