Hi guys I wondered if anyone had tried using ADI AP100 as a replacement for the sadly lost SR4756. I have yet to try for myself. I would love to hear about it from anyone who has used it in similar circumstances to SR4756.

It has a similar burn rate and quickloads' predictions make it look attractive.

I have always thought that AP100 was a sleeper. Between Unique and 2400 in burn rate; got to be good for cast.

When someone has some experience with it, let me know. I use SR4756 for handguns in 32-20 caliber. It is the best I have found for that particular combination, but I am down to about a half pound of the powder and have not been able to find any more.

Shoot. I have almost 5 pounds 4756, and haven't really worked up any loads for it. Tried it in .38spl, seemed to be very position sensitive. Haven't done anything with it in 9mm.

I'd hate to develop loads for an orphan powder.

There isn't one. SR4756 is the equivalent. The full list can be found here: http://www.adi-powders.com.au/handloaders/equivalents.asp

All we need to do is to convince Hodgdon to import it as a replacement. In
Australia, you can just try it out and tell us if we should be lobbying
Hodgdon to add it to their list.

I will try it out in my 30-30, 32-20 and maybe the 38-40 as soon as I get chance and when I do report back. I was hoping someone had already tried it!

All except N330 are being phased out and replaced w/ new "green" powders

I have not used it, have used AP70N and Trail Boss myself for similar roles. There is not much data out there as unlike a lot of the other ADI powders sold and repackaged by Hodgdon this is not the case for AP100 so it is an Australia only powder. However here is some data I was given by the ADI reloading information service:
138867

From this picture from the internet looks like flake powder like AP70N however AP70N(Hodgdon Universal) is a brown flake:

Interestingly AP100 is apparently not going to be affected by the coming changes in manufacturing for AP70N (press release here (http://www.adi-powders.com.au/handloaders/news.asp#item0)) so will likely continue to be available longer term - maybe a good reason to get to know it.
