IIRC; Remington made a Rolling Block pistol in 50 cal. No details here at my desk...

Yup, I believe it was in 50-70 caliber.

Actually .50 Army or Navy, a much shorter round then the 50/70, which would be murder on the wrist.

Without digging out the reference books, I believe that one was rim fire, the other center fire; but please don't quote me on that.

If you do a search, there have been a few threads on the Remington Rolling Block pistols, Model 1867 and 1871 IIRC.

You are correct There was a Centerfire and Rim fire. The army Model I believe was Rim Fire and Navy was centerfire. Both were made By Remington.. Very nice pistol and a Good Collector item
Cartridge value Appox $10- 20 depending on Condition and manufacturer .

Hate to barge in with another question, but at least it's related, but does anyone know if brass could be made from Mag Tec's 32 ga. shotshell brass? If anyone here has one, thought it MIGHT prove to be a bit of useful info. They take LP primers, and if using straight black powder (I HATE Pyrodex because it's the most rust provoking stuff out there, FAR more corrosion causing than the real black) one can use mag. primers if ignition proves to be a problem with some of the black on the market. Just a FWIW, and I was curios if anyone's ever done this?

hey trigger, it could a 50-45, thats what my cadet carbine rolling block is, if so just trim back 50-70s, i have a couple of boxes of loaded rounds called 50 carbine from ccc, they look like lathe turned cases. i loaded a few with 45 grains of swiss, then matched the velocity with 4759 and it shoots great

50-70's not so bad in a handgun :)
