Carpetman,
If you had ever been through Newark, you probably wouldn't remember it. It's a small town, about 900-950 people, with nothing to really distinguish it. Nothing like the megatropolis of San Angelo!!

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I've been tied up with mid-terms and my daughter's softball team. I haven't even had time in the last month or so to get out to shoot.

Wills,
I went looking for the Trails End BarBQ about a month ago after you asked me about it on the old board and wasn't able to find it. I'm NOT saying it's not there, just saying I didn't find it. Where was it in Rhome?
Also, if you ever come through again, and if you like Thai food, there is a good Thai restaraunt in Newark called J's (or Jay's). It's about 50 yards past the IGA on the right. It sits back off the road in a little strip mall so you have to look for it.

Ah yes,the world famous Trails End barbecue in Rhome,Texas. Bison use to get lost,so they put up a big beacon mounted on their stove, so they could find their way. For entertainment they taught an antelope and a deer how to play the piano. It was the inspiration for a song. "Oh give me a Rhome. Where the buffalo home. And the deer and the antelope play." Home, home on the Range.

If I recall correctly it was actually west of town on SH 114. We would come down from Decatur on Friday afternoon. They served cafeteria style and after we went through the serving line they put us in a kind of banquet room and brought platters of Texas Toast and bowls of barbeque sauce to dip it in.

North of Rhome on 114 used to be a catfish place that sold some decent 'que but they sold out. I don't know what the new owners are specializing in. South on 114 I've got no idea. In Decatur, Ray's BBQ is decent.

I'm going to Tarrant County College NW campus over by Saginaw. It's off 820w at Marine Creek Parkway. I'm taking general education courses leading up to my Associates of Arts degree. I was thinking of going to UNT in Denton after that for a degree in Engineering or possibly Physics. Originally, I was going to move to Nevada to go to UNLV for a degree in business, specializing in Whorehouse Administration, but they wouldn't send me any info on it :(

I took a class there when it was NTSU. The prof. had us introduce ourselves and say how we were classified sophomore, junior etc. and I was sitting there wearing a suit and said I was classified as post doctoral, everyone else was looking at me as though they expected me to ruin the grade curve.

I always thought the old Waggoner Mansion in Decatur looked like it would make a good whorehouse. Probably the Carpetman could give you a correspondence course in management. It would probably start out something like “First round up a herd of …”

Bill, there are ads ever week in the local papers for jobs in the local Brothels as we politely call them. Anything from grounds maintenance to dishwasher to shift manager. I don't know how well they pay or what fringe benefits they might offer. When I was in the sheriff's office to get my CCW, I talked to a nice young man also getting a CCW who worked at one of those places as a security guard. While we were waiting a couple of nice looking ladies came in to do some paperwork. (Anyone who works in the brothel, gaming or security industries must have a registration card from the sheriff) Turns out they worked at the same place he did. Seemed nice but what do I know???

It would be my luck if I worked out there things wouldn't run as smoothly as needed, computers would crash, and I would end up having to do everything by hand.!!!

That noise you heard was CarpetMan slamming his door and running for his ATV, trying to beat Waksupi out here... He has a misconception of what "CAThouse" means in Nevada.

I don't need to race Carpetman. I saw on the news last night, that the legislature in Wisconsin is trying to establish a cat hunting season. So,we know where he is. And I know that a cat house isn't something to keep your kitty in.

Well the houses of horizontal refreshment didn't answer you as it's not as lucrative as it once was. Seems the migrant workers from down South are opening them up and for grand opening they give away frijoles.

Carpetman,

How did the deer and antelope play the piano- having no thumbs?

Regards.............----- BLT--the deer was a buck and sometimes could use his antlers-- depending on whether he had antlers or not and the configuration and the development stage of the antlers. Certain tines he was smooth as velvet. Other tines you needed your drink spiked pretty stout to listen to him. The antelope was really not much on the piano--was a better horn player. But you are correct--nobody ever said they were all thumbs at it.
