Nobody can measure the opening of their pot.

I have a 4", 6" and 10". For most commercial pots the 1/2 & 1lb ingot is the most flexible as they should fit in any pot.

I don't think many people use bread pans and that is the reason for the delay, DShultz

If you mean mini loaf pans they should fit fine. A full size bread loaf pan makes 40 lb ingots. I know, I bought some recently, had to make them smaller to work.

A lyman Big Dipper is 4" across. A Saeco 24 is 3.2" and a late version of the Lyman 61 measures 3" across the opening.

I made some ingots that are about 5lbs and some that are about 7lbs. Next batch will have some cupcake size. Will the 7lb ingot take to long to melt In a average size pot.

Wilton mini loaf pan. I fill them to weigh 3.5#s. You can get two set vertically in a Lee 4-20. Anymore and it really freezes up.

Depends on the Watts of your pot element. One of my units is of 70# capacity and has a 2,420W element and will within minutes recover back to 700* when 10#'s of room temperature ingots are added to top it up. Another of 50# capacity with a 1,600W element takes noticeably longer to recover when 10# is added.

I don't sweat the time it takes for the melt to be ready for casting again as I keep my molds hot & ready on a solid hot plate while taking a short break from casting. I have had marathon casting sessions where more than 200#'s of boolits were cast and the breaks were welcome. Casting is supposed to be relaxing, IMHO.

Most folks go with a smaller ingot so recovery time is shorter during a casting session.
