I have yet to cast pistol. I shoot idpa and uspsa. Was about to get in on a moly group buy with my local club BUT thought, why spend several hundred and I can spend less on a mold and use the lead I have.

I shoot 147gr moly so I'm looking for a 4 cavity mold in that weight range. I dont know who makes any. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

There is a group buy on NOE's web site for a boolit like what you described. You can sign up and get a discount on your mold selection at the following link.

I saw that and it looks interesting. I unfortunately dont know what RG4 means and some of the terms. Debating if I want a holly point at 147gr or solid at 155gr. Are there plugs to put in the 147gr if I choose not to make it a hollow point?

Yes - it comes with hollow point and regular flat nose on RG2 (2 cavity) and RG4 (4 cavity) mold.

Biggest trick for the RG molds is that you have to run them hot in my experience.

Psychbiker,

If you've never gotten into a group buy before, I think this would be a great time to give it a try with the NOE 358 155gr TC (ELCO) mould that Tazman listed in his post. This mould is supposed to be run somewhere around 5/5/15, which is less than two weeks from now. I think this is going to be a great 9mm mould.

For anyone not familiar with how the NOE RG hollow point moulds work, here are links to two threads that explain it pretty well:
http://noebulletmolds.com/smf/index.php/topic,199.0.html , and,

Sorry for my lack of explanation.
As Artful said, it come with pins for both hollow point and flat point. The pictures he provided show a different mold than the one I linked but serve as a demo of what the mold would in general, look like and come with.
I own several NOE molds a couple of which are the RG (Hollow point or hollow base designation) and they all work well. I am on the list to buy the mold I told you about. I think it would fit right into your needs as you described them.
Seems to be a number of us looking for something like that.

Lyman make a nice (except for BB) 147 grain bullet for the 9mm in 4 cav., feeds well.

I'm on the list for that NOE mold. But I'm ordering an ordinary solid mold, non RG. While it morphed from the original reason I started the discussion thread it should still work well. If you have no desire for hollow points you can order a regular mold and save yourself money in the process.

I got on board with 4 cavity alum RG4. Figured its like 2 molds, 147gr HP and 155gr solids. Those 155gr should be super soft shooting as my moly coated 147gr I use with 3.2 of bullseye is a joke in my 9mm 1911 and not bad in a 5.25 xdm.
